Black Book: Getting Post Cards Printed

Whether you’re blanketing the neighborhood with promotions, creating counter cards for partner businesses or getting creative with spiffs, take-home promos or recital reminders, the humble post card is a budget-savvy friend.

You can hit the internet and fall down the search rabbit hole (hey, sometimes we all need to be Alice for a while) but if you’re short on time and want some recos from folks who’ve printed millions of cards already, here’s a page from our little black book of resources.

Overnight Prints

First things first – they print FAST, but that doesn’t mean you necessarily get them overnight. For the best savings, place your order at least a week before you need them so you don’t have to pay for shipping.

Cards come in a variety of sizes (3×5, 4×6, large format, etc.), you can print on one side or two, all in full color, and you can choose glossy or non-glossy finishes. If you order regularly, you can earn points in their customer system which in turn earns you huge discounts in addition to the internet coupons we highly encourage you to google up before placing your order.

Postcards here run 1¢-3¢ each, for larger orders. For big ideas that only need small print volume, you can order as few as 25 and still score a great deal.

If you want something that feels more special with luxe paper, Moo is the place to go. Orders can be as small as 25 cards and options include super sexy features like gold foil, colored edges, super thick paper and rounded edges. Huge variety of sizes too, from mini post cards to large 6×9. Our fave pick from here is the SQUARE post card – so fresh!

Smart Press

We use smart press to print big jobs, like full-color magazines and event programs, but this outstanding employee-owned printer also does an incredible job with postcards. Typical turn around on a print job is 2-days and because they are located in Chanhassen, MN, shipping times to those of us in the Midwest are quick. Postcard jobs can be as small as 25 – and small jobs are given just as much love as the big ones.
